Although appointing a new director to your CC or (Pty) Ltd. or changing the details of an existing Director is effective as soon as your Board of Directors minutes the change, you’ll need to notify the CIPC of these changes so that your company details stay up-to-date, ready for you to carry on doing business.
Once any change to your Director details or Board of Directors has been submitted to the CIPC, it will take a few weeks for this change to be fully registered. While the process of changing Director details is fairly simple, it requires numerous documents to be submitted to CIPC along with follow-ups to ensure that new details have been captured correctly.

Here’s what we will need from you to submit your director changes to CIPC:
Certified ID Document of Director/s to be added, removed or have their details changed.
Resolution confirming the changes requested.
Notice and minutes if the Director change decision was taken at a meeting.

When do you need to notify the CIPC of a Director change?
If you decide to appoint or remove any Directors from your organisation, or, if any details change for any of your existing directors, you will need to register these changes with the CIPC. The CIPC will need to know the date when any new Directors were appointed, as well as the date that any Directors were removed from the Board.
How many Directors do you need?
In the case of a private company, you may not have less than one director. Every company should draw up a Memorandum of Incorporation that sets out how many Directors your company should have, as well as the requirements for Directors and their Term of Office.
